About Dr Maria

Her Story

Dr Maria was born in Portugal and moved to Australia with her family. She completed her medical degree at the University of Sydney and has since worked extensively across several public hospitals in Sydney, including a year at The Children’s Hospital.

Maria is a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners, having trained and practiced in various areas around Sydney. She has spent many years serving the Ryde community and expanded her expertise by working in the Sydney CBD, with a strong focus on women’s health and travel medicine.

Her interest in travel health has taken her to remote locations across Australia—including the NT, WA, SA, and QLD—as well as East Timor. During the COVID-19 pandemic, she contributed at multiple vaccination hubs and later joined the Virtual Care and Hospital in the Home program at Royal North Shore Hospital.

Currently, Maria practices in West Ryde, Sydney CBD, and Gladesville.

She lives locally in Ryde with her family and a spirited rescue dog.
